Penn State President Graham Spanier is one of the highest paid public university presidents, according to a recent report — but rankings can be deceiving, officials said.

The ranking, published by The Chronicle of Higher Educa-tion, lists Spanier as receiving the sixth-highest base salary at $620,000 for the 2008-09 academic year. Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee was ranked first, with a base salary of $802,125.

But Spanier’s name did not appear on the list of the top 10 public university presidents in terms of total compensation, as he does not receive many of the benefits included in extra incentive packages offered at other universities, Penn State spokeswoman Annemarie Mountz said.

..

“Look at all of the perks and incentives included in other peoples’ salaries,” Mountz said. “None of that is applicable to President Spanier. He has his salary, and then beyond that, he lives in a university house. He doesn’t get a housing allowance, and he drives a university-owned car.”

After her about hour-long speech, Coulter fielded questions from the audience.
When asked, “What’s your beef with Muslims,” Coulter said she is “still a little testy about 9/11.”
“Do I need more?” she said to laughs and applause.

A genital mutilation booth, focused on male circumcision, also received numerous students. Many were surprised by the message of not circumcising male babies, arguing that circumcision was more hygienic. But contrary to popular belief, circumcision is not more hygienic and 85 percent of males in the United States are not circumcised, Krista Moyer (sophomore-French and women studies) said.

Circumcision was created in the Victorian times when masturbation was considered sinful. Since the foreskin has to be lifted and cleaned in uncircumcised males, it put them at risk to have an erection. Therefore, circumcision was invented, Moyer said.

[Charlie Murphy] Comedy show rocks Eisenhower

Comedian Charlie Murphy took the stage to a partial standing ovation Saturday, when he was introduced as a co-writer of the — and this is a direct quote — the “smash hit, Norbit.”

At this point, I wasn’t sure what I was in for. Would we see a legit comedian, or simply someone who had hitched his wagon to the right stars?

In the beginning, it seemed like it would be the latter, as Murphy got his biggest laughs early on talking about his brother and quoting Chappelle’s Show. Even though neither Dave Chappelle nor Eddie Murphy was present, you could almost see their coattails on stage with Charlie Murphy.

Eventually, though, Murphy settled down and pleased a full Eisenhower Auditorium with some original material, centering on the male ego.

Ugh, choke on a bag of cocks collegian writer:

Once he was finished placating the fans with a few Chappelle’s Show one-liners, his material was surprisingly funny and original. I think the funniest part of his entire set was the fact that he used “boning” as a euphemism for a night of “all-star” sex.
