Land of the Blind was a movie I’d never heard of until I was inundated all at once with trailers for it on a series of DVDS.

Donald Sutherland is a poet/professor turned revolutionary/political prisoner. The bulk of the story revolves around Ralph Fiennes’ interaction with Sutherland and the sitting dictator (Son of the previous fascist/reformist) who are in a politicial struggle.

Lots of really, really dark comedy and some pretty funny tangents based around the supporting characters.

With just a touch more excitement this could be up the alley of Equilibrium, but as it is you probably have to be a big fan of politics to get a kick out of it

Roger Dodger was actually pretty good — a dark comedy about a sharp-yet-nerdy high school senior hanging out with his slimeball uncle in NYC for an (extended) evening.

The uncle is a fast-talking lech, but you’re never really sure to what extent he has really has his shit together vs. just being deluded.

Worth watching if it lets you dodge the bullet on a more pedestrian romantic comedy…
